Arkansas

We went to Arkansas for Labor Day weekend. We got there on the 3rd which was my dad's birthday and left on the 7th. We were supposed to fly but we ended up driving. To make a long story short, after we flew to Houston in July, Brock decided he didn't want to fly anywhere again if it was within driving distance. The flight to Arkansas was already reserved with funds that expire this month, so I told Brock we would fly one last time. Well, the day before the trip, he got his way, and we decided to cancel the flight and drive instead. We soon realized that driving is not that much better than flying. Actually, each has its advantages and disadvantages, and we just kept reminding ourselves of the advantages of driving. We felt bad that Pierce had to be strapped down for several hours. He actually did amazing. He hardly complained at all, but of course, as happy as he was, we still had to stop to feed him and change his diapers. I believe he pooped 4 or 5 times on the way there. We stopped on the side of the road a couple of times to change it. One time we must have stopped in a swamp because we had a family of mosquitos join us in the car. I killed them with my bare hands. I had to protect my baby and my husband from getting West Nile. Brock spent the next day cleaning mosquito blood off the ceiling of our car. Seriously.

We really didn't get to stay in Arkansas long enough. I saw some friends, but I didn't get to see everyone that I wanted to. My bff Celeste had her baby this week, so I got to see her all cute and pregnant. I also saw my other bff Amy who is due in October and her little boy Sam. I also saw her sister Chelsea who is also due in October, her son Jackson, and her mom Crystal. Okay seriously, while we're kind of on the subject, I have a lot of friends having babies lately. I mean, A LOT. It's kind of strange actually. I guess we're just in that stage...that baby-making stage of life. I also saw another bff Sarah and met her 6 month old baby Betsy. She and Pierce enjoyed gazing into each other's eyes, and Pierce gave her a foot massage. No pictures though. :( I wanted to meet Brynlee too (another good friend's baby Pierce's age), but we didn't get to see them. I enjoyed going to church there. I was born and raised in that ward, so it's always fun to go back and see everyone. Pierce peed on me when I was changing his diaper at church, and I told the kids in my mom's Primary class. She didn't like it that I told them that, but I thought they'd appreciate it more than anyone else (4 and 5 year old girls). They did!

I actually do have some pictures from our trip. My mom wanted to get some family pictures outside, but I don't think Adam and Brock were mentally prepared for it, so it didn't go as smoothly as she would have liked. That was partially my fault for failing to mention it to Brock beforehand. We still managed to get some cute pictures out of it though. Unfortunately we weren't able to get a shot of the whole family. Sorry mom. Next time we'll be better prepared. I haven't uploaded the pictures from my camera, and it's late, so you'll have to check back for those.

It was great trip. We even imported some Blue Bell ice cream. I wish we had more time there, but I guess it's better to stay not quite long enough than too long right? Thanks for having us Mom and Dad, and happy birthday Dad! Sorry I forgot your jam. I love you. My dad is really good with Pierce. His calm personality is very relaxing.
