4 Months Old!

Pierce is 4 months old today! Yesterday at his check up he weighed 16 lbs 7 oz (75th %ile) and was 26.5 inches long (90th %ile). His head was 43.5 cm (about 80th %ile).

We've started the thrush medicine again. Apparently I'm not attacking it hard enough. It only comes back mildly each time, but it's so annoying to have to give the medicine after every single feeding. The doctor basically told me that I need to be more diligent with the medicine because we're not getting rid of it. I'm sorry but it's hard to give medicine after EVERY SINGLE feeding. I start out very determined to get rid of it, but toward the end of the 2 weeks, I start to lose steam.

In every other way Pierce is very healthy and strong. I didn't get his immunizations this time, but we're going to go back in about a week to do it. He's had a rough week, and I just didn't want to do that to him yesterday. The doctor seemed to think I was crazy. He warned me of the dangers of not getting the shots, but I think being a week or 2 late on shots isn't going to prove fatal.

Pierce has started sleeping 5 or 6 hours at night instead of 8 or 9. Very frustrating, but I think we figured out the problem, and it has to do with breastfeeding. He's just trying to up the production after I accidentally decreased it by doing single side feedings (which initially went really well). Now I'm just letting him eat whenever he wants which is sometimes every hour, and I think we'll get back on track soon.

He seems to hate riding in the car now. He spends a lot of time in his car seat screaming. It makes for an enjoyable ride for me too.

He's so alert. He watches everything so intently. He also loves to grab things and suck on anything he can find. It's kind of funny to watch. He starts licking anything that touches his mouth. He likes rattles and lights and music. He still loves tv. Of course, we don't let him sit around watching it.

I wanted to go to a play group this morning, but Pierce is still napping. I'd rather not wake him up, but I think I will. He's been sleeping for 2 hours. He always seems to take good naps when I want to go somewhere, but when we have all day at home, he takes terrible naps. I love that kid.

good for you britney! I am a big believer that mother's know best when it comes to our little ones! The doctors like to be a little overbearing with their opinons sometimes! You just do what you think is best for your little man! He is adorable! Good luck with the sleeping thing. It seems like Brock's sleeping habits change all the time, just when I get used to not being able to sleep through the night he starts sleeping until 8 in the morning and then when I get used to that he starts waking up at 3 or 4! They just like to keep their mommies on their toes!

Stand firm with your Dr. I love Owen's ped because he lets me make all the decisions as longs as they seem educated and not crazy.

Good for you! We don´t vax at all so they really think we´re insane. Fortunately they don´t give us a super hard time.
Same here on the naps, I´m waiting for him
to wake up right now so we can go out.
Hope everything gets better for you guys :)
