recital

I had a piano recital this weekend. I started teaching one student last fall. I wanted to expand, but I wasn't sure what to do since I didn't know if I would keep doing it after the baby came. Anyway, since I only had one student, I had to figure out how to do a recital. There's another lady at church that teaches lessons, and I asked her if she wanted to have a recital with me, and I volunteered our house for it. If I had a lot of students, I would have found a place to rent, but we went the less expensive route and used our living room. I was really stressed about having enough seats for everyone, but we borrowed a few chairs from church, and it turned out great! There were 6 students ranging from 7 to 17. She and I also played. I told her I would go first because I was nervous about performing. I don't have a lot of piano performance experience, plus my brain has been slower since I've been pregnant and playing the piano is where I can really tell. I guess I did fine though. I messed up a little but I really didn't care. I was SO proud of my little student though! He was so cute. I had him memorize one of his songs, and he ended up being the ONLY one who memorized anything. I may be biased but I thought he had less mistakes than some of the older kids...especially on the song I didn't make him memorize.

*please excuse my extremely shiny, splotchy red face. there's something seriously wrong with my body temperature lately, and this day was unseasonably warm. i don't think i could ever be pregnant in the summer.

Yay! Your first recital with students. Rebekkah and I do one together too, but we do it more as a party. The parents drop the kids off and we play games and eat for about and hour, then the parents come back and the kids play. Its a lot of fun and a really casual setting.

Oh, I'm unusually hot all the time too. Colby has actually complained about being cold lately. I love that I'm not going to be pregnant in the summer.

You look fine! Thanks so much for being Miller's teacher. He has had a fun and good year with you!
