Rock Band, Talk, Primary, and Furniture
My blog fans know that I spoke in church back in October, but the fun part of moving around a lot is you get to speak in church a lot. Most of the time they want you to speak when you first move in, and a lot of the time they want you to speak before you move out too, and since we've been in 4 different wards (5 if you count the Irving Ward last summer where pretty much no one spoke to us in the 3 months we were there) in the almost 4 years we've been married, we get to speak a lot. Brock and I both spoke today. This was probably my most stressful weekend since I finished school. On top of speaking, which by itself really isn't that bad for me, I also had to teach the primary music for the first time. I got asked to do that 3 weeks ago, but this was the first week I was able to start, so I had a long time to think about it and dread it. So yesterday morning I was freaking out because even though I had thought a lot about my talk and the primary music, I didn't feel ready at all. I only had the morning to work on it because we had invited people to come over last night to grill hamburgers and play Rock Band, so we had to go out yesterday afternoon and buy all the food for our party. When I woke up this morning I still didn't feel ready and I was really nervous, but when I got up there to speak, I guess my prayers were answered because I wasn't nervous anymore, and in primary even though the kids probably noticed my hands shaking a little, I did fine, and they were so good for me. Thank goodness Brock is off work tomorrow and we can sleep in (although he thinks I sleep in every day which isn't entirely false because I sleep later than he does).
Rock Band has been good to us. It helps us make friends and impress existing friends. I think it was a good social investment. :) As you can see, our couches came in and we're happy with our choice. The set up next to the fireplace is temporary until we find the perfect piece of furniture to hold all of that stuff and hide some of those ugly cords. I don't think we're quite sure what we're looking for, but hopefully we find it soon.
Those pillows came with the couches which is nice, but we were planning to do blue in the room, and those pillows have red and green in them, so unfortunately, we're probably going to end up replacing them.
We got our dining room furniture. Ignore the hole in the wall, we took the vent off for the painters. We're not sure what we're going to put in the hutch, but David and Pieta are there already. Brock bought those when we went to Italy in 2004 and saw the real things, and we've had them displayed ever since. David is a little too tall, but that's okay. He used to be more modest because one of our friends covered him with a small leaf (stuck to chewed gum we found out later), but the leaf fell off. I'm thinking red for the dining room. I'm not sure though because our bedroom and bathroom are all red. I didn't realize we liked red so much.
