Sleep Update

Pierce is doing better at getting himself to sleep for naps. He'll cry for 5 minutes or so then squirm around and whine for about 20 minutes until he falls asleep. We have video on our baby monitor and it's funny to watch him as he tries to find a comfortable position. Bedtime is another story. I wish I knew how to make bedtime feel like naptime to trick him into falling asleep, but he definitely knows the difference. Even if I play the same music and do all the same things, he knows. Probably because it's dark outside. I think he also can't sleep as well when he knows Brock is home. He screams hard for as long as I can stand to listen. He gets himself so worked up that he can't settle down. I know I just need to let him cry because there's really nothing I can do. I can't calm him. He just tries to play if I hold him. The only thing that works is nursing him, but if he's too full already it just makes things worse. I can also bring him into my bed and he'll eventually fall asleep, but I try so hard not to do that so he doesn't expect it. Last night I gave in and he stayed in our bed all night because I fell asleep. Poor Brock didn't get much sleep. I'm sure the battle will be even harder tonight because I let him sleep with us last night. Babies are so weird with their sleep issues.

There's a book called Good Night, Sleep Tight. It helped me SO MUCH when I had no idea how to get Jackson to go to sleep on his own, and this is when he was about a year old. But this lady has solutions for every age and it was amazing how well it worked for us. The thing I liked the most about it was that I felt like I wasn't abandoning the poor kid to cry by himself. You should check it out!

Sleep is still an issue for us too, it's rough but we are surviving! I love the new look of the blog and all of the awesome pictures from your new camera! Oh, and I am the primary secretary here too! It's good, lots of work, but I really like being with the kids. We just started practicing for our program. It should be quite a spectacle!
