Free At Last

Last Thursday was bittersweet. I always told myself that when Pierce slept consistently through the night for one week, I would move him to his own room. I thought I'd wait until Adam left to do it, but I just decided Thursday afternoon that it was time. I packed up all of Pierce's stuff in our bedroom and moved him out! I was a little sad, but I was mostly worried about him being in his own room, you know, with all the stuff you hear about SIDS. We have a monitor with a camera on it though. In reality, I can see him better in his own room than I could when he was in a bassinet right next to me.
He's been sleeping like a perfect little baby through the night in his own crib. (Except for 2 nights ago when he woke up at 2 am with bad gas pains.) I put him in there during the day too for naps. I don't even have to swaddle him anymore, but I still do it at night because I'm afraid his arms will get too cold. Every night that he sleeps 8 hours or more, I just feel so happy and proud of him! I know this is not what everyone with a 2-3 month old baby experiences, so I really appreciate it. I'm sorry for always talking about it, but it's what he does best!
It's so nice to have more space in our room. It's also nice to not have to worry about waking him up by having the lights on or watching tv or talking too loud.
Here's the cute little boy taking a nap. Maybe we'll cut that mullet off soon. His neck is doing a lot better. We still haven't set up a physical therapy appointment! The early intervention program that we're going through (First Steps) is ridiculously inefficient. It's a state program. That's the government for you. I can't wait to see what Obama's going to do with health care (sarcasm). It's been 3 weeks since we started working with them, and they haven't done any physical therapy yet. So far a lady has come to my house to tell me about the program, and then another lady came to evaluate him to see if he qualified to participate in the program. We don't even need them anymore because I've been working with him on my own. Brock still wants to go the chiropractic route, but I'm skeptical. He asked me if I would at least go get Pierce evaluated by a chiropractor, and I will.
We went to the Center for Breastfeeding Medicine today at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. I didn't know that such a place existed. There's a pediatrician there that's also a lactation specialist. She looked at both of us and gave both of us treatment for the thrush. Hopefully we get rid of it once and for all! Pierce weighs 15 lbs now!
Pierce is getting more control over his arms and hands. For the last week or so, he's been sucking on his fists a lot (or anything else he can pull to his mouth), and bringing his hands together across his chest. His neck is getting a lot more stable, and he can hold it up for longer time periods. He loves to stand up in our laps with us holding him under his arms. When I try to sit him up against a pillow or something slightly reclined, he'll try to sit all the way up on his own. Babies have some crazy core muscles!
This boy also loves to watch TV. We try to position him to where he won't stare at it, but where there's a will there's a way. He even knows when commercials come on and will stop watching. He definitely takes after us. We'll have to cut back on our TV viewing for his sake.

You need to put a 52 inch screen up over his crib!

Just keeps getting cuter! He totally has to keep rocking the mullet though...at least until it's long enough to cut it and leave a rat-tail.

YAY FOR CHIROPRACTIC! :) I know it's scary to take your little teeny baby to the chiroprator, but it's WONDERFUL for them! Macy's first time going was when she was 2 weeks old...DO IT! :) You are such a good mommy, britney! :) Pierce is lucky to have such a caring mom!

Yes on the chiropractor!
Yay on sleeping so well! I had to cry it out with Sam at 6 months so both of us could get some normal sleep.
Btw, I cut Sam´s mullet about a month ago. It was over his shirt collar and getting a little out of hand.

he's so cute! I can totally see you guys in him. Rachel is sleeping through the night but I haven't moved her out of our room yet! I can't believe how fast they grow!

Betsy does the same thing with the TV, we have her laying on the floor under toys, and she twists her body in the weirdest ways to get a view of the TV. We went to a movie the other day and took her with us. I had her standing in my lap facing me and she turned her head as far as she could to see the screen and held it there for quite some time, before I finally gave up and just turned her to face it! Pierce is adorable!
