1 Month

We have a big baby boy! He had his 1 month appointment today (Thursday). He weighs 11 lbs 9 oz and is 23 in long! His weight is 84th percentile, length is 87th, and head circumference is 45th. I can't believe I was ever worried about whether he was getting enough food. I'd say he's getting plenty! He's still pretty laid back, but we've had some rough days lately. The good thing about newborn babies is that they always have a legitimate reason for crying. You just have to figure it out. He's still a pretty good sleeper. He only had that one night of 5 hours of sleep, but he goes by the books and sleeps 3-4 hours at a time at night. He's turned into a very fast eater too. He doesn't mess around anymore (usually).

After our appointment today, I took him to get his bilirubin levels tested. The doctor said he still had a little bit of jaundice, and he started to order a blood test for it, but then he decided not to. After I left, Brock told me I should have asked for the test since they keep telling us that he has jaundice, but he's never had the blood work done for it. So Brock called the doctor, and they sent us to another place for the lab work. Pierce was tough. He was sleeping in his car seat when I took him in. I left him in there while she took his blood, and he slept through the whole thing. He grunted and squirmed a lot, but he never opened his eyes. He probably thought it was just a bad dream. I should know the results tomorrow. I'm sure the count will be too low for any kind of treatment, but it's better safe than sorry I guess.

I took a picture of him today for this post, but I'll put it up in the morning. It's after midnight and there's no reason why I should be awake right now.

Sam had jaundice when he was a couple days old. They told me to keep nursing him so he would poop because they get out whatever it is that causes jaundice in their poop. Speaking of poop, you probably know by now that breastfed babies are some serious and loud poopers. Btw, you would have never thought you´d say poop as much as you do when you have a kid. Look how many times I just said it. :D
