Oh boy!

Contrary to popular belief, we're having a baby BOY! We saw him for the first time today. When we first went in for the ultrasound, he was curled up in a little ball, so we couldn't see him very well. She said to come back after the doctor saw me, so she could get his measurements. She did see him well enough to know that he was a boy though. Brock was so excited and was calling and texting people the rest of the time we were there. I was excited too, but I left my phone in the car. The doctor said everything looks good. Brock asked him when I'm going to start looking pregnant. He said my growth is right on, but taller women don't look as big. After that, I ate a peppermint and poked at my belly a lot to wake up the baby. When we went back to the ultrasound room, he was awake and stretched out. His arms were moving around a lot, and his heartbeat was 152. She said his measurements were around the 50th percentile for his age.

We're so happy to have a seemingly healthy baby, and even though I didn't really see myself having a boy, I'm really excited, and of course, Brock definitely is too. For those of you having girls next spring, I have some cute clothes that you will probably be getting as gifts. :)

We've already decided that his name will be Pierce Brock Roark.

The first one is obvious, proof that he's a boy. His legs look kind of strange because they're bent back. The second picture is a side profile. His head is on the right with his hand up to his mouth. It looks like he's sucking his thumb, but it was actually only there for a second. He kept moving it around. His body slopes up to the left. You can see his little heart in the middle of the dark spot in his chest.

I LOVE the name. That's funny that Brock asked the doctor about when you were going to look pregnant...and you're lucky to be tall!

Congrats, I am so excited for you guys!

I love that it's a boy...so now it's time to buy cute boy clothes :) Congrats to you both. Oh, and I like the name. Reminds me of Pierce Brosnan and that makes me think of James Bond. What I'm trying to get at is the girls already want him.

Hi Britney,
You don't know me, but I found your blog just from browsing. Congratulations on the baby! The reason I am leaving you a comment is because I saw on the ultrasound pictures your ob/gyn is Dr. Draznik. He is also my ob/gyn. I don't need to tell you that he is an amazing doctor. He delivered my daughter in February 2007 and you will be so pleased with the nurses at The Christ Hospital.
Congratulations again! We also live in Independence and if you
ever want to visit my blog its newmom2olivia.blogspot.com
Also, if you are looking for any suggestions for a pediatrician Pediatric Associates is where we take our daughter. We see Dr. Cunha, but there is 11 doctors total in the group.

Congratulations, Britney!! We are SOOOO excited for you and Brock! And just so you know, I was one of the 42% that thought you were having a boy. You know, because that matters! ha ha Maybe your family can stock you up on boy clothes this Christmas. :)

I like the name! Great pics- love the thumb sucking and "glory shot". I think guys feel a certain sense of pride in having boys first--I know bart did.

Boys are fun, but maybe I'm a little biased :)

Congratulations!!!! I love the name you two picked out. I also love the picture with his hand up to his face. The first time we met with Baylee's birthmom she was pregnant with Baylee. She brought pictures of the ultrasound for us to see and Baylee had her foot up to her mouth. She was sucking away on her toe. hehe
I can't wait when he is born and we can see more pictures of him.

I'm so excited for you guys! Now Jack can have a little playmate when you come home. It's so fun to be a Mimi and I'm sure your Mom will love it as much as I do. I love the thumb sucking picture because we had one of Jack just like that but he isn't a thumb sucker at all! Luv ya girl.

Yeah!!! You've heard this already, but boys are so fun. I'm sure either way I would've been happy, but really, boys are just so sweet.

I'm sure Pierce is going to love knowing that his parents posted a picture with an arrow pointing to his "bits and pieces" on their blog. I like the way you think...start young with the embarrassment, and maybe he'll get use to it by the time he hits his awkward teenage years! :)

I am not so partial to your baby name but I like it. Okay I can't even see a baby in those picture though it's kind of clear I can tell he is wiggling alot.

I wasn't going to comment, but I agree with Dallin. I can't see much in those ultrasounds. I am sure the tech knows what he is doing and seeing. I sure don't. I like the name Pierce. Congratulations! And, please pray for my grandson, Parker Smith, who is in AR Children's Hospital. He was born Sunday, Nov. 2.

Congrats! I love the name...one of our favorite president names :) Having a boy was quite the shock for me at first too, but it has been fun! It won't take long for you to get into dinosaur mode or liking sailboats and frogs and turtles all of the sudden! Fun times ahead! We are so excited for you!
