home stuff

For Brock's birthday gift from his parents (and because we wanted to be like our friends Patrick and Amber), we got a universal remote control. It's much more convenient, and the amazing thing is that you just have to press one button to turn everything on. For example, if you want to watch tv you press the tv button and on comes the tv (obviously), the DVR, and the surround sound. When you get done watching tv and want to watch a movie you press the “blu-ray button” and the DVR turns off, the tv switches inputs, and the PS3 comes on. Brock is in love with it.

We went from this ... to this.

As mentioned in my last post, we moved our bedroom tv to our guest bedroom which meant that we had to replace it. We got this Vizio from Walmart. It's the only 32" plasma that exists right now, and it's been called the "HDTV steal of the century". Brock used birthday money from my parents to help pay for it.

Since we couldn't fit our new tv in this cabinet, we no longer needed it to face us. I don't have a before picture, but it was diagonal in that corner which made the entrance to our bathroom a little cramped. Now we can have it up against the wall, so have plenty of space.

We've kind of had a medieval theme in our bedroom since we got married, and we decided to change it up a little. I was kind of wanting something a little less masculine than knights and swords and such. We found this cute sign at Linens and Things. We still have a lot more to do.

I'm pretty sure I never posted pictures of it, but when Carmen and Brooke were here, they helped me find some decorations. We worked mostly on this hallway table, and Brock and I found the mirror a few weeks ago.

I've been putting off doing anything in our dining room because I wasn't really sure what I wanted, but Brock got tired of it being unfinished, so he helped me get started on it this weekend. We got some chargers and glasses to use with the dishes we already had. Hopefully we can finish it all soon, and I'll post a picture when it's done.

After we moved in we discovered that our deck steps were unlevel. They finally rebuilt the staircase for us, and Brock is happy with it which means so am I.
I'd like to thank Brock for taking all of these pictures.

Decorating, for me, takes a long time. I can't figure out which style I am. I really like Classic and not too modern. I pretty much hate traditional. I like stright lines, but I need variety too. Good luck with your house. I have a condo, and still have bare walls.

I was looking at your blog and noticed on the side you have the "blog feed" that shows when ever your friends update or post a new blog. How did you add that? Let me know because I would like to add it to our blog. That will save me a lot of time going through my friend's blogs.

You may also remember that we blogged about our universal remote as well. It truly is a life changing moment in your life. Congratulations!
