Getting Settled

Even though we still have a long way to go with furniture and decorations, I feel like parts of our house are starting to look like an actual house should look. We do have some furniture on the way. We've ordered this dining room set from Ashley Furniture. We think it looks better in person than it does in this picture. We've also ordered a couch, a love seat, and an ottoman in this style also from Ashley. This will make a big difference in our living room. When we moved in we put our couch in the basement and we've been using our little love seat in the living room. It's kind of small and lonely.
The kitchen is really starting to come together. Too bad they'll be tearing up our floor next week to even it out (something they were supposed to have done before we moved in).

This hutch goes with our office furniture, but we're having to send it back because there's something wrong with it. This piece had already been sent back when we got the original delivery because it was broken, and now we have to wait even longer to get a third one.
We have more to do with decorations in our office, and things aren't necessarily going to stay the way that you see them. The broken hutch goes on top of that file cabinet in the empty space. We need a new office chair and we're going to get a clear floor mat. We also got this at Ashley (we like that store).
Here is our lovely piano that I will be forever grateful to the Roark family for, especially Carmen because she spent days refinishing it for us. I play this thing pretty much every day, especially since I haven't been working. We need new candles for the candle holders. I really like the box that I got from Target to keep my music in. It was a little too expensive when I first saw it, but I kept checking on it and I found it $30 off one day. It was still a little expensive for a box, but I had to get it.
I finally hung this thing. I started making it 3 months ago at a Relief Society craft night in College Station. Brock and I picked out the color for it and we thought it would match our kitchen, but it doesn't really, so now it's in our laundry room which is also the entrance from the garage. I made one for my parents and I really like the color I used on theirs, but Brock wanted me to spray paint ours, and we couldn't find the same color in spray paint.
I got this picture at Home Goods (owned by TJ Maxx). It's my new favorite store. I got this picture for $70, which is still more than I would like it to be, but the prices are way better than Target. I still like Target's style better though. It's more contemporary. Every time I look at this picture I want to be there. Brock reminds me that I have been there before, but I want to be there without the stinky deodorant-less Italian people and the sticky humid air. Brock's like yeah and you wouldn't even be able to sit at those tables because the restaurant owners would make you get up because you're not paying customers even though there's like 50 empty tables. haha! Fun times. We love Italy for real!

Is it not so much fun to "build" your home. We just have a little three bedroom condo, but I am always adding and chaning furniture and decor. It is fun to see how certain pieces affect the feel/spirit of the home. Plus, I am not crafty, but I keep trying. When something is finally successful, I add it to my home. It's fun to see it everyday. Of course, it'll change in a few months anyway. Keep having fun! Show us what else you have. It'll give me ideas!
