We went to my parents' house for Christmas this year. My family's Christmases are fairly untraditional in that we open gifts on Christmas eve. We have dinner, read the Christmas story in Luke 2, and then open all of our gifts. On Christmas day night we go to my great aunt Celestine's house for dinner with all of my dad's relatives that live in the area and some that travel to visit. I'm not really sure why we don't have normal Christmas. I think it's what my mom did growing up.
We took some homemade family pictures while we were there. By homemade, I mean I put my little camera on a tripod and set the self timer to 10 seconds and jumped into the picture. I really like taking pictures and telling everyone where to go. Maybe one of these days I can take a photography class.
We got some good stuff for Christmas. We mostly got gifts for our new house. We didn't really get each other anything because we're spending an obscene amount of money on our house and all the stuff that goes in it. We bought ourselves a new desktop computer yesterday though. We've been holding off for months while our 2 laptops fall apart, and we thought we would wait until we moved, but we saw a pretty good deal at Sam's Club yesterday, so we bought it. It's nice to be able to use a computer for more than 20 minutes and not have it die. My laptop won't charge while it's turned on, and it hardly holds a charge at all, so I could only use it in short increments. And lately it wouldn't even charge at all.We had a really good Christmas and visit with my family. It was good to have Adam home from his mission.
Thank you to both of our families and our friends for the nice, thoughtful, and useful gifts.
